Have I lost my drive?

I am beginning to get a little frustrated with myself. I cant seem to find the focus needed to write this song. I sometimes feel as if what I am doing is meaningless and that I am losing my drive to continue on even when I know the time is now and this deadline is slowly creeping up on me. So I have as of late last week decided to move in with Nick Saenz. He is doing the almost exact project as I and his drive impresses and encourages me so I wish to feed off his drive and do the best that I can as well without hindering him in the process.

  1. Sometimes that's exactly what you have to do, surround yourself with people who are better than you if you want to improve, it works for sports, academics, and everything else. I think you made the right choice when you saw your own motivation begin to dwindle.

Something else you might do is just carry a notebook everywhere and jot down rhymes about what you feel at different points of the day then reflect on what you have written and build your song around that. That's what EMINEM did for a while, though I don't know if e still does.

  2. I agree with Elber, you made a really good move by surrounding yourself with what you are striving for. I don't know if you already do this, but Susan has mentioned it at times: have a journal or sticky pad by your bed (just with you at all times) so if you have even the smallest idea you can write it down. I would suggest relaxing. The one thing that will cause you to go even further off your "drive" track. I did some research and couldn't find much but I hope this helps a little bit with finding some inspiration for yourself: http://www.fuelyourwriting.com/10-ways-to-find-inspiration-for-your-writing/

  3. Shomo baby why didn't you tell me this. I thought you moved in just to improve your focus on academics and get away from the chaos in the dorms. Man I will help you anytime you want to work on your song. With the beat or just figuring how to work Garageband; just let me know and I'll be there. If you want you can work on your song and I can work on a song at the same time so that we can feed off each other's drive. You just have to get in your zone, but trust me you'll get back in your mode and re-focus yourself.
